AstroPCB offers a professional PCB design service that takes your project from schematic concept to manufacturing-ready layout files. The service covers schematic capture, component library creation, board layout, impedance-controlled routing, design rule verification and output of Gerber, ODB++ or IPC-2581 fabrication packages. Because the design team works inside a PCB manufacturing company, every layout decision accounts for fabrication and assembly constraints from the start — not as an afterthought.

From schematic to layout

The PCB design service begins with your schematic — whether it is a polished Altium or KiCad schematic or a hand-drawn concept with component selections noted. The design team reviews the schematic for completeness, verifies component footprint availability, confirms critical net requirements (impedance targets, differential pairs, power distribution) and builds a component library with manufacturer-verified footprints for any parts not already in the library.

Board layout proceeds through placement, routing, power integrity review and design rule check. Placement considers signal flow, thermal management, assembly sequence and mechanical constraints (connector locations, mounting holes, keep-out zones). Routing follows impedance-controlled trace geometries where specified, with length matching for differential pairs and high-speed buses. Power distribution uses plane shapes or wide traces sized for the current requirements, with decoupling capacitor placement optimized for the specific power delivery network.

Design for manufacturability from day one

PCB design services from a standalone design house often produce layouts that look correct in the EDA tool but require modification before they can be fabricated. Common issues include annular rings that are too small for the drill tolerance at the chosen fabrication class, trace-to-edge clearances that violate routing panel requirements, via structures that require additional lamination cycles not reflected in the cost estimate, and impedance geometries that cannot be achieved with the specified stackup.

Because AstroPCB’s design team has direct access to the manufacturing engineering group, these issues are resolved during layout — not discovered during DFM review after the design is “finished.” The result is a layout that is genuinely manufacturing-ready when it leaves the design service, with no surprise revisions required at the fabrication quotation stage.

Capabilities

The PCB design service supports designs from simple single-layer boards through complex multilayer constructions with 40+ layers, HDI features, blind and buried vias, rigid-flex transitions and RF sections. Impedance-controlled routing is available for single-ended and differential pairs with targets verified against the proposed stackup using field-solver simulation. High-speed design techniques including length matching, via optimization and return-path management are applied to designs operating at multi-gigabit data rates.

Supported EDA platforms include Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, Mentor PADS and KiCad. Output formats include Gerber RS-274X, Excellon drill, ODB++ and IPC-2581. Assembly outputs include pick-and-place centroid files, BOM and assembly drawings.

Typical project timeline

A straightforward 4-layer design with moderate component density typically takes 5 to 10 working days from schematic handoff to manufacturing-ready output. Complex designs — high layer count, HDI, rigid-flex, RF — require 2 to 4 weeks depending on the number of nets, impedance requirements and revision cycles. The design team provides a timeline estimate during the project scoping discussion, and progress updates are shared at key milestones (placement review, critical routing review, final DRC).
