Panasonic overview
Panasonic circuit board materials at a glance.
Panasonic Industry (electronic materials division) makes copper-clad laminates and prepregs for multilayer, high-speed, automotive and flexible circuits. Its product line is organised in four families: Megtron (high-speed, low-loss), the Halogen Free R-series, Hiper (automotive multilayer) and Felios (adhesiveless flex).
Most of our Panasonic work is on Megtron 6, 7 and 8 for servers, switches and AI accelerators, but we also build on halogen-free R-1566 and Hiper grades when a drawing calls them out, and on Felios polyimide or LCP for flex and rigid-flex.

Megtron is Panasonic’s high-speed family. Megtron 2 and 2E (halogen-free) and Megtron M are the entry grades; Megtron 4 and 4S are mid-loss materials for 10G-class links; Megtron 6 (R-5775) is the industry reference for 25–56G; Megtron 7 (R-5785) halves its loss for 56–112G PAM4; and Megtron 8 (R-5795) targets 112–224G for next-generation switches and AI fabrics. Panasonic has also announced Megtron 9 for 224 Gbps.

Halogen-free R-series
Panasonic R-1566 and other halogen-free laminates: R-5575, R-5515.
Panasonic’s Halogen Free series is halogen- and antimony-free and rated UL 94 V-0. R-1566 laminate with R-1551 prepreg is the general halogen-free multilayer material with high heat resistance. R-A555W / R-A550W is a low-Dk halogen-free system, R-5515 is an ultra-high-speed halogen-free material for power amplifiers, and R-5575 is an ultra-high-speed material for millimetre-wave radar; R-5410 is a prepreg for mmWave antennas.
| Grade | Panasonic positioning | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| R-1566 / R-1551 | Halogen-free multilayer circuit board material | Consumer, industrial, telecom boards requiring halogen-free |
| R-A555W / R-A550W | Low Dk halogen-free | Faster digital where FR-4 Dk is too high |
| R-5515 | Ultra high speed, halogen-free, for power amplifiers | Base-station PA boards |
| R-5575 | Ultra high speed, for millimetre-wave radar | 24/77 GHz radar |
| R-5410 | Prepreg for millimetre-wave antennas | Antenna build-ups |
Hiper automotive
Panasonic Hiper V, D, M and E automotive multilayer materials.
The Hiper series is Panasonic’s multilayer range for automotive and other harsh environments. Panasonic describes Hiper V, Hiper D, Hiper M and Hiper E as high-heat-resistance materials with proven CAF resistance, through-hole reliability and good laminate processability for lead-free assembly. We use them when an automotive drawing specifies them; otherwise we usually propose Shengyi Autolad or S1000-2M class grades, only with your approval.
| Grade | Use |
|---|---|
| Hiper V | Automotive multilayer, lead-free |
| Hiper D | Automotive multilayer, lead-free |
| Hiper M | Automotive multilayer, lead-free |
| Hiper E | Automotive multilayer, lead-free |
See automotive PCB for qualification, PPAP and traceability.
Felios flex
Panasonic Felios flexible laminates.
Felios is Panasonic’s adhesiveless flexible circuit material line, offered in several film and copper-foil thicknesses: Felios Polyimide for general and dynamic flex, Felios LCP (liquid crystal polymer) for low-loss, low-moisture high-frequency flex, and Felios FRCC. Panasonic targets mobile devices, medical, industrial and avionics applications. We build flex and rigid-flex on Felios when specified; the more common default is DuPont Pyralux or Taiflex.
| Grade | Base | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Felios Polyimide | Adhesiveless polyimide | Dynamic and static flex, rigid-flex |
| Felios LCP | Liquid crystal polymer | High-frequency flex, antennas, low moisture |
| Felios FRCC | Flexible resin-coated copper | Thin build-ups |

Fabrication
Fabricating boards on Panasonic laminates.
Megtron and the halogen-free R-series process on standard multilayer lines with adjusted lamination cycles and drill parameters. For low-loss grades we specify HVLP or RTF copper and spread glass on signal layers, model impedance with construction-specific Dk, and add back-drilling and TDR coupons for SerDes nets. Some Megtron 8 and R-series constructions are made to order, so lead time is confirmed at quote.
- Construction-specific Dk/Df in impedance and loss models
- HVLP / RTF copper on high-speed layers
- Spread glass for long differential pairs
- Confirm stock and lead time at quote
