Every quote from AstroPCB includes a DFM review — the engineering team examines your design for manufacturability issues and communicates any findings before fabrication begins. This means your quotation reflects the actual construction that will be built, not a generic price estimate based on board dimensions and layer count alone.

What to include with your quote request

The more complete your submission, the faster and more accurate the quotation will be. At minimum, provide Gerber files (RS-274X format), an Excellon drill file, and a fabrication drawing or README that specifies layer count, board thickness, copper weights, surface finish, impedance requirements and any special construction features. ODB++ and IPC-2581 formats are also accepted and preferred for complex designs because they include stackup and material information in the data package.

For assembly quotes, include a bill of materials (BOM) in Excel or CSV format with manufacturer part numbers, reference designators and quantities. Provide a centroid (pick-and-place) file if available. Specify whether the build is turnkey (AstroPCB sources components), consigned (you provide all components) or partial turnkey.

What the DFM review covers

The DFM review examines drill-to-copper clearances, annular ring adequacy, trace and space compliance with the selected fabrication class, solder mask registration and dam feasibility, via structure manufacturability (especially for HDI builds with blind, buried or stacked vias), impedance achievability on the proposed stackup, and any construction features that require special tooling or process steps. If the review identifies issues, the engineering team provides specific recommendations — not generic warnings — so you can decide whether to revise the design or accept the noted condition.

Quotation turnaround

Standard quotation turnaround is one business day for boards with complete design data. Complex constructions (HDI with multiple sequential lamination cycles, rigid-flex, hybrid RF/digital stackups) may require additional time for stackup engineering and material sourcing confirmation. If you need a faster quotation for a time-critical project, indicate the urgency when submitting and the engineering team will prioritize your review.

PCB assembly quote

Assembly quotations include component pricing (for turnkey orders), SMT and through-hole assembly costs, stencil costs, testing and inspection costs, and lead time. The BOM review identifies any component availability risks (long lead times, end-of-life, minimum order quantities) that could affect the build schedule. This review is included with the quotation at no charge.
